The story is about a young boy named Naruto Uzumaki who is a ninja in training and has a secret. In truth he has the Nine Tailed Demon Fox spirit sealed inside of him. The Nine Tailed Demon Fox had, twelve years before, terrorized the village and the only way the village could get rid of it was to seal it away, and the newborn Naruto was the only option, but Naruto was the only one who didn't know about it. So when Naruto is tricked by a renegade ninja, Mizuki, and is almost killed, he learns a new technique from the scroll he stole for Mizuki in order to protect himself. Through this experience, he learned about his secret power of the Demon Fox. As he rises in the ranks of ninja training, he learns new powers and is accompanied by his two partners, Sasuke and Sakura and his new teacher, Kakashi Hatake. The show unveils secret plots, a new evil and nearly every one of the characters has a dark past to fight against.

The manga written and illustrated by Masashi Kishimoto and is composed of 2 Parts, the first is 238 chapters and the second is still ongoing and continues from part one two and a half years later.

The anime Naruto is directed by Hayato Date and ran for 220 episodes, the first 135 episodes are adapted for the first 27 manga volumes. The last 80 episodes are original episodes not mentioned in the manga. Naruto Shippuden is the sequel to Naruto and is still ongoing since 2008. There are also six animated films from various points in the series that were produced. They are: Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow, Legend of the Stone of Gelel, Guardians of the Cresent Moon Kingdom, Naruto Shippuden the Movie, Naruto Shippuden 2 : Bonds, Naruto Shippuden 3 : Inheritors of the Will of Fire, and Naruto Shippuden 4 : The Lost Tower. Most of the films are independent to the plot and are more fillers than anything. The only problem with this anime is that practically HALF of the episodes are not related to the plot. That doesn't mean they aren't good, they provide comic relief and interesting story lines, but they tend to make the viewer get a little impatient.
That's why I rate Naruto a 4 instead of a full 5.
